As part of the project, the surfaces of 8 FOXPOST parcel lockers were treated with the Resysten Clean Air coating, and the impact was assessed using the Airly air‑quality monitoring system over two 70‑day measurement periods—before and after the coating application.

Based on the measurements, the post‑application period showed an average 26% reduction in NO₂ concentration in the monitored micro‑environment. In dense urban areas—especially those heavily affected by traffic‑related pollution—this represents a highly promising result.

According to estimates based on the NO₂‑absorption capacity of urban trees, a single parcel locker treated with the coating delivers an effect comparable to the annual air‑purification performance of approximately 67 trees. Across all 8 treated lockers, this equates to a combined impact comparable to more than 530 trees.

A model calculation based on traffic emissions indicates that one locker can neutralize an amount of NO₂ equivalent to the emissions generated by approximately 16,681 km of road traffic annually, while the entire system corresponds to around 133,450 km.

Why does this matter?

The results suggest that small, widely distributed urban infrastructure elements—such as parcel lockers—can provide a measurable contribution to improving urban environmental quality.
